TAG's 1st All Goa Choreographic Dance on Konkani Songs Competition

Dynamik Art Entertainment 1st Prize Winners in Performance


The dance group - Dynamic Art Entertainment from Panjim led by Vishal Asolkar won the 1st prize in the All Goa Choreographic Dance on Konkani Songs Competition organized by Tiatr Academy Goa on 28th January 2012 at the Goa State Museum, Patto Plaza, Panjim.

Rangele Group from Gogol Margao led by Sweta Kolwar won the 2nd prize while Innovators from Utorda under the guidance of Milroy Pereira bagged the 3rd prize. Pietians from Dudhsagar Collem trained by Rena Azavedo were awarded a consolation prize. Vishal Asolkar of Dynamic Art Entertainment Panjim also bagged the Best Choreographer award while the child dancer Omkar Kalwar of Rangele dance Group was awarded with a special prize.

1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes consisted of cash amount of Rs. 7000/-, Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively with mementos and certificates. The Best Choreographer prize consisted of Rs. 2000/-, a memento and a certificate. Besides all participants has been awarded certificates.

In all 19 dance troupes from all over Goa participated in the competition and showcased an excellent performance of variety of dances on different Konkani songs.

Shri. Rajendra Talak, producer and director of Konkani films was the Chief Guest and gave away the awards to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he complemented Tiatr Academy Goa for organizing numerous activities to promote, preserve and develop Konkani song and music.

Jason Fernandes, one of the judges of the competition, speaking on the occasion suggested that TAG should organize workshop on dance in order to have better performance in the future. Prasad Pankar was the other judge.

Earlier Mr. Tomazinho Cardozo, President of TAG welcomed the Chief Guest and the audience and said that the purpose of organizing choreographic dance on  Konkani Songs Competition was to make Konkani song popular among the masses particularly the youth.

Marcelin de Betim at TAG's Meet the Artiste for Jan 2012


Marcelino de Betim A Popular Singer of Yester Years

Marcelino de Betim, a popular artiste of tiatr stage stated that tiatr stage made him popular among the Goans throughout the world mainly due to his songs which were not only comic but also full of pun and sarcasm. Marcelino de Betim was speaking at the Meet the Artiste – ‘Kolakarak Bhett’, a monthly programme of Tiatr Academy Goa held recently in the Black Box of Ravindra Bavan, Margao.

Speaking further, he expressed his gratitude to Titta Pretto, another veteran of tiatr stage for supporting him throughout his carrier. Marcelino de Betim who has acted in the tiatrs directed by all the stalwarts of Konkani stage right from C. Alvares, Prem Kumar, Alfred Rose, Jacint Vaz, Nelson Alfonso, Fr. Freddy J. D’Costa, etc to Menino de Bandar, Jr. Nelson, Mariano Fernandes, Comedian Domnic and others informed the audience that the circumstances under which the veteran tiatr artistes served the tiatr stage were really difficult.

Marcelino de Betim along with late M. Boyer has the distinction of performing 6 shows in a day and they could not make it for the 7th show on the same night at Chorao due to non-availability of the ferry boat at Ribandar jetty.

Numerous questions put forth by his fans namely Premanand Lotlikar, John Claro Fernandes, Rico Rod and others were systematically answered by Marcelino de Betim.

Earlier Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo, President of TAG introduced the artiste to the audience and later Shri. Victor de Sa, Member Secretary of TAG proposed a vote of thanks. Shri. Joy Fernandes  Cultural Organiser of TAG compered the function.

Directory of Tiatr Artistes 2012, Tiatr Books Released








Dr. Pratap Naik, sj, Joint Director of Academics and Research, Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr, released the ‘Directory of Tiatr Artistes 2012’ and also another 3 books of tiatrs namely ‘Visvasghat’ written by Soccoro Rebello, ‘Puro Ami Tras Kaddleat Te’ written by Alfredo Fernandes and ‘Jezuchea Pavlamni…’ a book containing 3 tiatrs namely ● Tim Sogott Ek Zaum ● Hanv Taka Vollkhoch Na and ● Tuji Khuxi Zaum, written by Fr. Nevel Gracias, yesterday (19/01/2012) at the Conference Hall of Tiatr Academy Goa.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Pratap Naik stressed on the need of publishing the creative works in the book form because such an exercise will help the researchers to ascertain the historical facts in a particular field in the future.

Speaking further he complemented Tiatr Academy Goa for organizing numerous activities related to tiatr, including literature of tiatr. The release of 4 books is a proof of TAG’s endeavor to preserve tiatr culture for future generations.

Shri. Jose Salvador Fernandes, Secretary of Dalgado Konknni Akademi spoke on the 2 books ‘Visvasghat’ and ‘Puro Ami Tras Kaddleat Te’ while Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo expressed his opinion on the tiatrs written by Fr. Nevel Gracias.

Shri. Alfredo Fernandes and Fr. Nevel Gracias expressed their thanks to TAG for publishing the manuscripts of their tiatrs in the book form.

Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo, in his welcome address appealed the writers of tiatrs, songs, one act plays, etc to come forward to take the benefit of TAG’s scheme of preserving tiatr literature for future generations by publishing books.
